Running a successful business is a skill set that is imperative for artists to learn and keep learning. Empowering artists by celebrating their achievements through The MAGAP Awards program, with its inaugural event taking place in 2017. WHY JOIN? Together we can affect change |
Working on your own as an artist and with your own makeup business can be extremely difficult and with little support, we are here to support you and your business. We will strive for a better and brighter future as an industry, so all makeup artists and business can have a successful and prosperous career. When we stand together as one, our community will affect change.
We will work to introduce a set of standard industry rates for clients and artists to abide by, Currently there is no set of standard rates resulting in the client dictating our worth and artists undercutting one another. This leads to production companies under quoting for our skills.
Networks have been paying makeup artists TV day rates for work that should be paid at a PR rate and artists are too scared to say no, thinking that it will jeopardise their regular bookings. If we all, Artists and their respective agents, stand together we could push our industry rates forward for the first time in many years. Together we can create a set of industry standard rates that are available to all.
We aim to introduce a set of standards to look after artists and clients on jobs. As an example on Editorial shoots, their is no official producer generally there is no first aid kit available, no allocated break and often no water, toilet or food provided.
We will aim to get makeup products available at a more affordable rate for artists. We are one of the only industries paying full retail price and high luxury goods tax for many of the products we need to use in our kit to provide our service, Meaning our profit margins are much less. We will push to work with brands to see what we can achieve for our members and aim to create strong brand alliances to help reduce artists expenses. and look after our members.
To affect change we all need to unite and stand together. We will have a voice which will need to be heard from our respective employers. We will work towards creating member affordability with purchasing the tools of our trade. Let us make our industry one that creates a sustainable and successful career for makeup artists.
